Family Discord More Harmful Than Divorce?

According to a recent Huffington Post.com article, children are more adversely affected by family discord than divorce.  Children are more harmed by the fighting that occurs in a contested divorce over child custody and child support than when parents choose to stay in an unhappy, turmoil-ridden marriage.  Parties going through a divorce in a Florida family law court must undergo a parenting class before having their divorce finalized.  This class helps remind parents of the effect of divorce on their children, hopefully ensuring the children are kept as the main priority throughout the divorce proceedings.  This new study points to mediation and a collaborative divorce as the best answer for spouses that cannot resolve their issues.
