In a recent Huffington Post Divorce article, the author described ten things that someone should consider before filing for divorce. The ninth item mentioned was to build a support system.
This is a great piece of advice. During the heat of arguments with your spouse it may be tough to consider what life may be like without the other spouse being around. Parties often times lament that they will not see their children as much after a divorce. What isn't often mentioned is that there will be one less parent there to help parent the child if the parties share custody. One way to help build a strong foundation for children after divorce is to make sure that friends and family are there to support you during the challenging times surrounding divorce.
