Sure, having a family law attorney tell you that you need to speak with a family law attorney sounds a little self-serving. It is certainly cheaper in the short term to try and come to an agreement with your spouse without speaking to a lawyer. However, the cost of an one hour consultation with an attorney skilled in the areas of child custody, child support, and alimony could save you considerably more money in the long run. The legal burdens of proof are much higher when trying to modify a divorce agreement than when attempting to come to your original divorce agreement.
