Another Warning Against Social Media in Your Divorce

Thinking of airing your dirty laundry over Facebook or Twitter? Think again. A recent Times of India article set out how courts in India have begun to accept tweets and status updates as evidence in family law court.  The new clause is Indian law is only a couple of months old but has already been used by Anu Sharma as evidence to file for a divorce from her husband.  Mrs. Sharma discovered her husband was not really  on a spontaneous business trip but was actually drinking at a bar in town through his Twitter update.

Of course, many people update their Facebook or Twitter multiple times throughout the day and do not take it seriously.  They may not realize their posts can be used against them in a court of law.  If you are a participant in a Florida family law case, you should be aware that tweeting and updating Facebook of disseminating information.
