There are signs that the economy is coming back. That's good news all around. Right? Well, maybe not. According to a study by the University of Virginia cited in the Huffington Post, a comeback in the economy can mean an increase in the rate of divorce.
According to the study, people aren't as likely to divorce during a recession because they tend to draw closer to each other to fight against the common foe. In addition, they just cannot afford to pay for lawyers. As the economy rebounds, those tendencies reverse and the divorce rate climbs.
In our office, we have seen an increase in the number of new divorce clients as compared, for example to this time in 2008.
